About MPPSC SSE
The State Service Examination is held by the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission for the state services named in the advertisement. The current notice is Advertisement No. 29/2025, dated 31 December 2025, for the State Service Examination 2026. A candidate needs a bachelor's degree from a university established by an Act of the state or of Parliament, or a deemed university under the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. A candidate in the final year may apply for the preliminary, and must hold the degree before the last date for applying to the Main Examination. Some posts ask for a further qualification, which the advertisement states against that post.
Age is reckoned on 1 January 2026, from the date of birth on the High School certificate. For a non-uniformed post the candidate must have completed 21 years and must not have completed 40. For a uniformed post the candidate must have completed 21 years and must not have completed 33. Appendix I gives a relaxation of up to 5 years for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, women and some other categories named there, and it says that after every relaxation the age must not go past 45 years for a non-uniformed post or 38 years for a uniformed post. An ex-serviceman's service is deducted from age, and the appendix says the resulting age must not stand more than three years above the maximum. The advertisement's physical table for uniformed posts prints a minimum height of 168 cm for men and 155 cm for women.
Online applications on the advertisement ran from 10 January 2026 to 9 February 2026 (until 12:00 midnight) at mppsc.mp.gov.in and mponline.gov.in. The examination fee printed there is ₹150, which is not refunded, plus a portal charge of ₹40. A late application cost ₹3,000 until 16 February 2026 (12:00 noon) and ₹25,000 until 1 April 2026. A notice of 1 April 2026 extended the late-fee closing date; the new date is that notice, not restated here. Error correction on the form cost ₹50 for each correction, from 15 January 2026 to 11 February 2026. The preliminary was fixed for 26 April 2026 at district headquarters: General Studies from 10:00 to 12:00 and the General Aptitude Test from 14:15 to 16:15. Admit cards were to be available from 16 April 2026. The corrigendum of 20 May 2026 states 156 posts (140 in the 87% block and 16 in the 13% block) after the vacancy amendments, including the amendment of 13 April 2026.
There are three stages. The preliminary is an objective screening test of two papers, each of 100 questions, 3 marks a question, 300 marks and 2 hours, answered on an OMR sheet. A right answer scores 3. A wrong answer takes away 1 mark. The formula printed in the plan is 3R − W. A blank answer is not a wrong answer. Each paper is in Hindi and English, and where the two versions differ the Hindi version is taken. Paper II, the General Aptitude Test, is qualifying only: its marks are not used to rank candidates for the Main Examination. To be eligible, an unreserved candidate, including an unreserved woman, needs 40% in each prelims paper, and a candidate of the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, Economically Weaker Section or a person with disability needs 30%. The call for the Main Examination is at most 20 times the vacancies, category-wise, and everyone on the same mark is included. Domicile of Madhya Pradesh is not required to apply. Reservation for the categories named in the advertisement is for candidates domiciled in Madhya Pradesh; a candidate from another state is considered in the unreserved category.
The Main Examination is six compulsory descriptive papers, 1,500 marks in all, followed by an interview of 185 marks. The final total is 1,685. General Studies Papers I, II and III are 300 marks and 3 hours each, and each is two parts of 150 marks. General Studies Paper IV is also 300 marks and 3 hours, with a different mix of short answers and a case study in each part. General Hindi and grammar is 200 marks in 2 hours, in Hindi. Hindi essay and draft writing is 100 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes, in Hindi. A notice of 31 July 2026 says the draft in that sixth paper is about 250 words. An unreserved candidate, including an unreserved woman, needs 40% in each mains paper (the two parts of a General Studies paper taken together). The other categories named above need 30%. If the final totals are equal, the higher written total is placed above; if those are also equal, the older candidate is placed above. Prelims marks are not added to this total.
